Get to know our wool
From our wool sourcing to the finished garment, every decision we make at IrelandsEye is carefully considered. When it comes to our raw materials, quality and sustainability go hand in hand, and nowhere is this more important than in our choice of yarns.
100% Natural, Ethically Sourced Yarns
We work exclusively with certified wools, ensuring that the sheep are carefully cared for and that the yarns we use are 100% natural. This matters deeply to us, as wool is a natural, biodegradable, renewable, and regenerative fibre, one that has been part of Ireland’s textile story for generations.
Soft, Durable and Long-Lasting Yarns
Wool is a remarkable natural fibre grown by sheep and shaped by nature itself. Our 100% Merino wool, is breathable and temperature-regulating, helping to keep you warm in cooler weather while remaining comfortable against the skin. Naturally resilient and odour-resistant, wool fibres can bend thousands of times without breaking, making them both durable and beautifully long-lasting.
Trusted Global Certifications
Our spinners and dyers are certified by OEKO-TEX® Standard 100, the Responsible Wool Standard, and The Good Cashmere Standard. These internationally recognised standards ensure that our yarns are free from harmful and prohibited chemicals, while also upholding the highest levels of animal welfare, environmental care, and responsible production.
Carefully Selected, Beautifully Dyed
We dedicate considerable time and research to selecting yarns that meet the needs of our customers — strong and durable, yet soft and comfortable to wear, and produced with respect for the environment. Every shade is designed in-house and dyed exclusively for IrelandsEye, giving each piece its distinctive colour and character.
Recycled, Refined, and Reimagined
Our new lightweight recycled wool and cashmere blend brings together textile innovation and responsible design. Created from post-consumer wool and cashmere garments, the fibres are carefully recovered and reprocessed before being blended with a small amount of virgin fibre for added strength. The result is a beautifully soft, durable yarn with a renewed purpose, giving existing materials a second life while reducing waste.
